Nested Chart with Charticulator.

Create nested charts with Charticulator which allows you to design charts by interactively specifying constraints.

Challenge Requirements

  • Download the data and remove all columns excepting the Date field, New Cases Smoothed Field and Location (save as csv)
  • Create a second csv with only Location = High Income data. Ensure the dates are American format (YYYY-MM-DD)
  • Launch Charticulator in your browser and load the High Income data
  • Add a rectangle mark to the glyph area, ensure it snaps to grid
  • Link the fill colour of the rectangle mark to “New Cases Smoothed” data
  • (Optional) To create an area chart, link the rectangle marks using bands and set the width of the rectangle to 0.5.
  • Link the height of the rectangle mark to “New Cases Smoothed” data
  • Link the X-Axis of the plot segment (not the glyph) to the Date field
  • Link the Title Text to the Location Field
  • Export the visual as a Charticulator TEMPLATE
